2016 Rio Paralympic: Nigeria Wins First Gold

Hours after Latifat Tijani won Nigeria's first medal, Silver, in the ongoing Rio Paralympic, the Team has won its first gold medal. Roland Ezuruike provided the golden moment, winning the 54Kg event in amazing manner.

Ezuruike set 3 Paralympics records in his run to win the top prize.

Earlier in the day Latifat Tijani clinched Silver in the women’s 45kg power lifting event. She entered the competition at 101, while other competitors attempted below 100.

The Nigerian lifter made a bright start, lifting 101 to smash the earlier existing Paralympics record. But that was short-lived as China’s Dandan Hu set a new one of 102. A keen contest ensued between Tijani and Hu. The Chinese won gold and Latifat got Silver in style. Britain’s Zoe win bronze.
