Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the cleric narrated his ordeal in the hands of the robbers, saying he went for morning Mass only to return to his residence and meet the robbers ransacking the rooms.
The 76-year-old priest said: “One of the robbers pointed a gun at me. They took everything in my house.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the robbers have been arrested.
According to him, the suspected robbers, Akeem Dauda and Mojeed Yusuf, tied their victim’s hands and legs with chains and gagged him, while the robbery lasted.
He said, “The cleric’s Toyota Camry, three laptops, a plasma television set, two mobile phones, two passports, N40,000 and E255 were stolen.
“Our men at Obada Oko got information that some people wanted to sell a car suspected to have been stolen. Policemen went there and the two robbers were arrested and the car was later recovered.
“The robbers confessed to the crime and we are currently investigating the case.”
