Police Officers Cry Out To IGP Over Delayed Promotion

Four hundred cadet police inspectors have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IG) Ibrahim Idris and the Police Service Commission (PSC) to attend to their overdue promotion.

The policemen, from Ondo, Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Cross River State commands, said they sat for their promotional examination in 2009/2010.

Their spokesperson, Samuel Oladeji, who addressed reporters in Ilorin yesterday, lamented that one of them died of hypertension while four others are on hospital admission.

“Regrettably, we lost a promising officer to hypertension. He kept mentioning the name of former IG Solomon Arase before he died. The deceased served last at the Kaduna State command.

“As we write, 4 others are seriously ill. We don’t want to lose them because hypertension is a silent killer. What shall it profit PSC not to promote us after being duly recommended?” Oladeji said.

The police officers, who appealed for action on the promotion, said a time frame should be attached to promotions. They also called on Nigerians to come to their aid.
