'AN ACT OF TERROR' — Device sent to CNN 'live explosive', Obamas, Clintons, Soros, Wasserman-Schultz also got packages

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS STORY, AND WILL BE UPDATED. Authorities are speaking in New York to brief the public on a series of bomb packages sent to political figures including former first families the Obamas and the Clintons, George Soros, CNN, and Florida Democratic congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schulz.

NYPD says it was “a live explosive device” delivered to CNN. The investigation is ongoing.

Also an envelope containing white powder.

Mayor Bill de Blasio: “I want to make clear the people of New York will not be intimidated, we are going to go about our lives undeterred.”

No specific threats to other areas of the city at this time, the mayor says, but media locations around the city will get extra police presence.
